The premiere for Odd Socks was on last week on Wednesday the 27th of April. It was a great red carpet event with nearly 200 people who came along to see the first ever screening of Odd Socks.

Standing in the doorway we had a life size construction of King Darning as well as a couple of his mutant minions. Now in late May we are going to have some public screenings which anyone is welcome to attend. I’ll post the dates and times of those as soon as I can so everyone will know when they are.

I’ll also post up some pictures of the premiere as soon as I can!

So I guess it’s time to let you know that the music for this epic sock musical is finally coming into fruition. Over last weekend (the 7th and 8th of August) we managed to get a whole lot of players together and record all of the main songs for the film.

Paul and I spent about 2 weeks during the University holidays trapped away in the computer room at my house turning what we originally had for all the music into sheet music that players could actually read, and also elaborated on it a bit and made sure it was all going to fit into the film. The two of us then realized “Oh shit, we actually have to somehow record this now”. Neither of us even knew where to start in terms of recording a whole live session of songs. So we were bloody lucky then to get offered the assistance of Angus McNaughton and four students from MAINZ, Joel, Simon, Kieran and Paul. They came in with all guns blaring and used their epic skills to help us record all the music. However we had to still find all the players, which was a mission. Paul and I had some help from Claire Choe to get a bunch of string players, including Bleau, Rachel, Albert and Madeline, we had the assistance of Henry Chong on drums, Dennis Liu on guitar, Camilo Diaz Pino on Electric guitar and his band mate Nikki on Bass, Lawrence on percussion and of course the wonderfully talented Paul Robertson doing everything else.

Over the next few weeks the boys at MAINZ are going to be mixing all the tracks together and we will be getting in the actors to lay down the vocal tracks.

Odd Socks is nearly here ladies and gentlemen! I will put up some photos and maybe a video of the weekend once I can. So look forward to that!

Holy Crap! Look at this! I put up some photos of the characters over on the character bio page! Its just here

Well its been some time since I’ve made a post here. Believe it or not I’ve been rather busy with filming. But things are progressing well. We have completly finished filming at the house location and the tennis club defender base location and we are now onto filming at the mutant lair

Over the past few weeks we have had a whole lot of commited people helping out from the awesome main cast who come along and act their little areses off, to the brilliant crew who turn up night after night and help make this thing happen, so the overly commited extras who come in, often with little to no notice and either mutant suit up or jump on screen as a defender.

We have even had a number of people from the crew as mutants and defenders as well, like Nick, Olivia, Nandan, Mark, Brooke and James.

Its getting quite exciting that we are getting so close to the end.  Ill try and upload more photos, or make a photo album on the blog when I can compile a good amount of photos.

Also I’m going to put up proper photos (or partial photos) or Bootie, some mutants and Darning on their profiles some time soon

Well we have been filming for 3 nights now and it is all going amazingly. There we some slight hitches on the first night with the power of our lights, but after Tag saved the day bringing in a whole lot of gels and diff we managed to move on and continue shooting.

We also had an unworking Kino light which proved to be a problem on the second night, but after getting that fixed we were rocking and rolling again.

Making amazing pictures and sound

The musical bits are looking amazing and all the actors are doing such a fantastic job. I am so happy to finally see the script coming together.

Tonight is the first night that Bootie comes on set, so thats going to be very interesting to see how we adapt to having a puppet on set. I have never filmed a puppet before so I hope we get into the grove of it pretty quickly.

On the 16th we then also have our first day with Mike Bugbee playing King Darning. I’ve been visiting Emma the costume designer a lot to see the various stages of the costume and it is looking great. Once Matt Barchi puts the prosthetics on Mikes face, we get him on set, lit up and a camera in front of him I think we will be making movie magic.
