Holy Crap! Look at this! I put up some photos of the characters over on the character bio page! Its just here
Also, here are some more fun photos for you.
Well its been some time since I’ve made a post here. Believe it or not I’ve been rather busy with filming. But things are progressing well. We have completly finished filming at the house location and the tennis club defender base location and we are now onto filming at the mutant lair
Over the past few weeks we have had a whole lot of commited people helping out from the awesome main cast who come along and act their little areses off, to the brilliant crew who turn up night after night and help make this thing happen, so the overly commited extras who come in, often with little to no notice and either mutant suit up or jump on screen as a defender.
We have even had a number of people from the crew as mutants and defenders as well, like Nick, Olivia, Nandan, Mark, Brooke and James.
Its getting quite exciting that we are getting so close to the end. Ill try and upload more photos, or make a photo album on the blog when I can compile a good amount of photos.
Also I’m going to put up proper photos (or partial photos) or Bootie, some mutants and Darning on their profiles some time soon
-Adam-
So this morning Michael and I went to Matts place to try out some
prosthetics on his face for tests to see what Darning might look like.
Matt used the material from the body suit and attached it to a latex backing which he then attached to Mike’s face. After it was all attached we stuffed the middle of it, round the eyes, the nose and chin with tissue paper to see how fat we could get the face.
It started to look really good, and Mike was able to make a number of funny and scary expression with the mask on. If you want to check out more photos go to the facebook page, they are on there.
However I think that it is going to need to be a lot fatter, this means more tissues around the neck and head. when the costume is done that will make things easier.
Speaking of costumes, we also met up with Emma who took some measurements for the fat suit. It should be underway soon, I can’t wait to see Darning come together. Goodness knows hes costing enough.
So one of the biggest hurdles that I forsaw in the production of this film was
going to be making King Darning and the Sock Mutant army as realistic as possible. I wanted realism, but also I wanted them to be scary, which obviously is a bit of a challange with an army made out of socks…
However with the help of Matt Brachi, a prosthetics expert, King Darning and quite possibly a few of our sock mutants are going to be kitted out in full facial prosthetics.
After a meeting and a discussion with Matt, I am fully confident that in working with Emma, our costume designer, we can combine a great mix of costume and special effects makeup
to really make King Darning and the Sock Mutants look as awesome, if not better than Lucy’s sketches.
The photos that I have put through this blog entry are some examples of Matt’s previous work. Marvel in its brilliance. Over the coming weeks we are going to do some tests, and get facial patterns of Mike Bugbee so hopefully we will begin to see how that will shape up, and I will put pictures on the facebook page.
Cool!
Today I went to the second of the three main locations to take a few snaps to make sure I would be able to film in there. This location is an underground industrial basement cave thing in morningside. Its very creepy and has the space we need.

Iron Doors
The outside is approached a number of times at night with Darnings evil goings on inside, so there is light and smoke seeping out from underneath the big iron doors… I think these big iron doors will do!
Once inside Darning has set up his evil contraptions that are allowing him to bring so many mutants through from their dimension. It will be in this area somewhere, towards the back in the caveish area.

Cave Area
When Darning wants to tie people up and let them sweat it out, he locks them in a side room to the main lair. Its an old boiler room that hasnt been used in years. Cobwebs hang about the place with broken machines sitting idly and dust over everything.

Boiler Room
So thats the location for King Darnings evil lair. With some good lighting and the right amount of good art department work it will look very evil and creepy. Although it suits the purpose very well already!
Cast and Crew profiles are in the making at the moment. Keep your eyes peeled for them!
Yesterday I locked down one of the 3 main locations for the film. Once all the madness starts, Richard decides to take our main characters to an abandoned tennis club in Mt Roskill.

Tennis Courts
They arrive at night to find a small number of sock mutants milling around on the tennis courts, and the tennis club all locked up. In a desperate attempt to get to safety they decide to take on the few sock mutants but fail quite miserably.

Back Door
They finally make it in the back door the Tennis club becomes one of the main locations of the film, not only as a base for the main characters and the defenders, but also as the site for one of the main battles towards the end of the film.

Club Interior
This location should be a fun one to film in. We will have unlimited access to it, and thank goodness the Winstone Park Tennis club have been gracious enough to let us use the building for as long as we want for no charge at all.
The other 2 main locations are also set down now too. I’ll get pictures up of them in the near future.
Some of you may have seen these photos on the facebook group as I put them up on there yesterday.
For the film we have a few non-human characters. I have recently had Lucy Yu working on some sketches for all of those characters. The ones I am intent on using are ‘King Darning’ the main antagonist of the film and the evil Sock Army leader. “Bootie” a young and good sock mutant that helps the films main characters. The other drawing is for the general sock mutants in the sock army.

Character concepts
These aren’t locked down ‘quite’ yet, but they sure are fun and give a bit of a face to what our army is going to look like.
More info on ‘Bootie’ (who is going to be a puppet) should be up soon. Hopefully Bootie will be one of the more fun characters.
